About the event

In 2024, Meath County Council with the support of the National Parks and Wildlife Service through the Local Biodiversity Action Fund commissioned Birdwatch Ireland to survey the county's Common Swift (Apus apus) population. This follows Meath's first survey of Swifts in 2019. Both surveys showed that a small population of Swift continues to prevail in Duleek but are at risk of being lost entirely without concerted conservation action to protect and grow this population.
